Energy Consumption & GHGs Policy
WYDE recognizes that energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are key contributors to our environmental footprint. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have established an Energy Consumption and GHG Policy in line with global initiatives such as SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). This Policy outlines our approach to minimizing energy consumption and GHG emissions across all our operations, including production processes, transportation, and office activities.
Objectives and scope
The purpose of this Policy is to:
- Energy efficiency: Optimize energy use across our operations to reduce consumption without compromising service quality.
- Renewable energy: Increase the use of renewable energy wherever feasible.
- Reduction of GHG emissions: Implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all three scopes (direct emissions, indirect emissions, and value chain emissions).
- Continuous improvement: Regularly review and update our energy and GHG management practices to reflect regulatory changes.
- Transparency: Report energy consumption and GHG emissions to stakeholders, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
This Policy applies to all WYDE employees and collaborators and defines the guiding principles for the organization and execution of all activities carried out by the company, wherever it operates.
Guiding principles
- Transport: Prioritize low emission transportation methods to minimize the carbon footprint associated with our services.
- Sustainability: Promote proactive collaboration with the other coworking tenants to encourage the adoption of renewable energy solutions, pursuing a shared strategy to reduce the environmental footprint of shared workspaces.
- Employee engagement: Encourage employees to adopt energy saving practices and to use public transportation or electric vehicles wherever possible.
Expected behaviors
To ensure the effectiveness of this Policy, WYDE promotes the adoption of the following daily practices by all employees and collaborators:
- Lighting management: Switch off lights in unused areas, such as meeting rooms, restrooms, and common areas, and make use of natural light whenever possible.
- Responsible use of equipment: Turn off computers, monitors, and other devices at the end of the working day, avoiding standby mode when it is not necessary.
- Responsible climate control: Keep doors and windows closed when heating or air conditioning is in use and report any temperature related issues.
- Sustainable mobility: Give preference to public transportation, bicycles, electric vehicles, or car sharing solutions for commuting and travelling to client meetings.
- Business travel optimization: Consider holding meetings remotely to reduce transport related emissions and, where travel is necessary, choose rail travel over air travel or private cars.
- Reducing digital waste: Manage cloud data storage efficiently and limit unnecessary emails with large attachments to reduce the energy consumption of servers.
- Reporting and initiative: Actively contribute by proposing new solutions or reporting energy waste identified within the coworking spaces.
Monitoring and improvement
WYDE promotes the periodic review of energy consumption and GHG practices by gathering feedback from the team and all involved stakeholders in order to identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen the culture of sustainability.
Roles and responsibilities
Everyone at WYDE contributes to energy saving within the scope of their own role and responsibilities.
The Impact Manager (RIMP) is responsible for planning activities, promoting responsible practices, and overseeing the implementation of this Policy. While acting in a coordinating role, the Impact Manager (RIMP) does not replace individual responsibility. Every employee and collaborator is expected to actively contribute to the development and strengthening of sustainable practices.
Approval, validity and policy updates
This Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Policy has been approved by the Board of Directors, which promotes its adoption by everyone working with the company.
The Policy is subject to periodic review to ensure its continued effectiveness and suitability to WYDE’s operational contex
Policy sharing and communication
The Policy is shared with everyone working with WYDE through internal communication channels in order to ensure transparency for employees and collaborators and promote the adoption of sustainable practices.
