Libro Caring For

The idea for this book took shape during a meeting in Borgo Vescine, in Tuscany, a charming and highly inspiring place. It was born from the desire to gather the experiences, knowledge, and insights of every Wyder into a collective work that could represent the variety and depth of our expertise and perspectives.

It felt natural to choose, as a guiding thread, one of the themes that defines Wyde: care and the act of taking care of oneself, of others, of things, of the world, of nature, and of art. The word “care” emerged as the common denominator of all shared experiences, representing a contribution to the present we are living, a value beyond formal education, and embodying a more human and inclusive vision of the role we play when we focus on relationships between people.

The book reflects the multidisciplinary nature of our group, fueled by the power of collaborative intelligence. It explores care through the contributions of different experts. Each chapter represents a unique lens, a path of reflection and insight that offers a singular and complementary perspective on the many facets of care.

It is not only a methodological approach, but also a value for us that allows us to delve deeply into any subject. At Wyde, we speak of collaborative intelligence not only when individuals or disciplines cooperate, but also when we are able to generate new forms of collective understanding that go beyond the sum of the parts. Every project we undertake seeks to make space for multiple, often contradictory, tensions, accepting them as design constraints from which creative solutions may emerge, and this book is an example of that.

We did not limit ourselves to offering theories or practices. We wanted to provoke questions, stimulate reflection, and, above all, inspire a vision of care that draws on the power of collaboration and the plurality of intelligences. This is a collective and inclusive analysis that builds a broader framework, offering readers new ways to understand care as an act that engages mind, body, and relationships.

We hope and wish that this collective exploration will inspire clients, partners, and friends, who are the primary audience for this book, but also everyone who, at different levels, engages with it. Care is not a task limited to an elite. It is a universal dimension that touches us all and that, through collaborative intelligence, can expand its transformative power to improve the well-being of individuals and communities.

As Massimo Recalcati says: “There is care every time we do not forget the difference that separates a name from a number. Care for those who do not turn a name into a number.”

Happy reading,
